A few months ago, Rep. George Lavender filed HB 700 to strike the “concealed” requirement from Texas Handgun Law, expanding our rightful freedom to keep and bear arms. It was heard before the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee on March 14, but was left pending.
Chairman Joe Pickett refused to to schedule a vote on HB 700, even though there was widespread support for the bill in his committee, in the House, in the Senate, AND in the state of Texas! Open Carry (HB 700) died in the regular session of the 83rd Legislature.
Stay tuned for action needed as we move toward the next legislative session.
